Dr. Alison Chasteen

Adult Development Laboratory

In our laboratory, we conduct research on social cognition and aging. One of our programs of research is aimed at determining how age groups perceive one another and what the relationships are like between age groups. Research on age group relationships has implications for policymaking and program development, such as programs that promote intergenerational interactions. Another program of research is directed toward finding methods from social psychology that could be used to improve older people's cognitive performance. Our hope with this line of research is that we will uncover some simple techniques older people can use to function better in everyday life.
