Phil Zelazo, Lab Director
Prof. Philip D. Zelazo is the director of the Cognitive Development Lab/Child Study Centre and is also the Canada Research Chair in Developmental Neuroscience. He has received several national awards for his distinguished contributions to the research of cognitive development. Recently he received the"Canada's Top 40 Under 40" award.

Development of deliberate reasoning and intentional action.

Helena H. Gao, Research Associate, and Former Research Director
Dr. Helena Gao is the Research Director of the Cognitive Development Lab/Child Study Centre. She received her doctoral degree in linguistics from Lund University in Sweden in December, 2001. Her Ph.D. work is a study of cognitive semantics with a focus on how adults and children acquire the semantic properties of physical action verbs and how they make the conceptual links between lexical terms and real physical actions.
