Letter from Jonathan Schooler (for distribution to government representatives)

Dear (PLACE NAME OF GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVE HERE)
As the United States prepares to initiate a long term war against organized terrorism, it is critical that civilians of the world community understand that US hostilities are solely directed at terrorists and those who harbor them. Unfortunately, at present a humanitarian crisis is occurring in Afghanistan, with extreme food shortages and thousands of would-be refugees seeking to escape anticipated US aggression. A humanitarian airdrop across Afghanistan would reassure Afghani civilians of the United State's good will towards them and would help to relieve the growing food and clothing shortages in the region.
We therefore urge the United States Government,
in close consultation with regional cultural experts, to produce
and distribute air drop care packages containing appropriate
food, clothing, medicine, and recorded messages expressing the US
good will towards the innocent people of Afghanistan.
In addition to reducing the imminent risk of a humanitarian
disaster, this peaceful air mission would help the US gain the
Afghani people's support, and would reassure civilian populations
everywhere that, unlike terrorists, the United States values the
lives of innocent people around the world.
