RESEARCH
Stephanie's research focuses on relationship dissolution and continued emotional attachment to ex-partners. Why is it that despite the hurt of breaking up, some people continue to pine for their ex? While some of our recent research suggests that pessimism about future relationships might play a role in keeping some people emotionally attached to an ex, we are exploring current lines of research on how perceptions of the potential for intimate connection and risks of rejection regulate emotional investment with ex-partners. In addition, we're exploring how intense fears of being single might motivate continued attachment to ex-partners, among other maladaptive relationship behaviours.
