Information for Auditors
Thank you for your interest in auditing our Psychology courses.
If would like to audit one of our undergraduate courses, please complete the following steps before the beginning of the semester:
- Refer to the Arts & Science Timetable Builder (https://ttb.utoronto.ca) for a list of current PSY course offerings, the times/days/semesters they are being offered, and the instructor information.
- Make sure to contact us through our student inquiry form (https://uoft.me/psy-ug-inquiry) to see if the course can accept auditors. If it can, we ask the instructor of the course for their formal permission to audit.
- If your request to audit is approved, please complete and submit the auditing request form (https://uoft.me/psy-ug-external-audit-request). After it's been submitted, further instructions will follow via email, including payment of the auditing fee (if applicable) and acquiring a temporary ID in order to access the course page on Quercus (for external auditors only).
Auditing Policies
- Auditing PSY lectures is subject to availability, room capacity, and both the course Instructor’s and Department's approval.
- PSY 1st-year seminars, 4th-year seminars, and 3rd-year lab courses are not open to auditors.
- Auditing a course includes lecture attendance only.
- Auditors cannot attend tutorials, participate in projects, assignments, or assessments (term tests or the final exam), or submit any course work for grading.
- Approved auditors will receive "Observer" access to materials posted to the course's Quercus page.
- Auditors are asked to kindly respect the time of Instructors and TAs, including office hours, as this is prioritized for registered students.
Auditing Fees
- The fee for external auditors is 40% of the regular tuition fee for a one-semester course, which is currently $610.00. Therefore, the fee will be $244.00. Please note that fees are subject to change each academic year.
- A fee invoice will be issued to external auditors after receipt of this form.
- Current UofT students, Staff, and Alumni do not have to pay an auditing fee.
Audit Attendance Confirmation Letter
An Audit Attendance Confirmation Letter can be issued to auditors who attend at least 75% of the class meetings. If you wish to receive this letter, please:
- Advise the instructor in writing (via email) by the first class that you wish to receive an Audit Attendance Confirmation Letter and have them confirm that your attendance will be recorded using the fillable
Psychology Audit Attendance Form. - Email the completed form to psy.ug.assistant@utoronto.ca to have your request processed.
Please contact us through our Student Inquiry Form with any questions about auditing.
