Class of 2025: Parting Words

June 17, 2025 by Class of 2025

We invited Psychology students graduating this year to share their parting words before crossing the stage at Convocation Hall. They could also submit a photo that somehow sums up their time at U of T. You can find their messages here—from short and playful, to moving and sentimental.

A warm congratulations to all of our new graduates and to the Class of 2025!

Alina Yisi Liu
Psychology Specialist, Philosophy Minor, Statistics Minor

Congratulations to everyone in this year's graduating class! Some of the best learning experiences I've ever had were in UofT psychology courses. Thank you especially to Professor Junchul Kim for being the best behavioral neuroscience professor I ever could have imagined :)

Charlotte Choy
Psychology Specialist, Education and Society Minor

Extremely grateful for the psychology department for a wonderful four years - I completed some of my first labs, first papers, first stats (and still struggling), while opening many doors to research, psych-related careers and interests. Thank you :)

Charm Lee
Psychology Research Specialist

I never imagined that taking PSY100 as an elective in freshman year would lead me to a research specialist degree and the chance to work with such inspiring researchers and professors. Shout out to my fellow classmates for creating a warm and supportive community—I've learned so much from you all and feel truly grateful to have studied at U of T. Congrats, Class of 2025, we made it!

Cindy Li
Psychology Minor

One of my favourite memories in psych is running breathlessly to Fri 9AM PSY210 lectures in SS with my roommate (we took the course together, and we were always late), and trying to keep ourselves awake in those three hours after an inevitably sleep-deprived week.

UofT undergrad was a wild ride, but I met lifelong friends at this university and grew a lot. My psychology courses taught me to understand myself and the people around me better. Their lessons are valuable insights that I use to interpret the world. Bye Bye UofT. Thank you for everything. I am excited to see what comes next!

I have grown in so many aspects throughout my time here. I feel proud and am grateful to everyone who has made my experience unforgettable. Congratulations to the Class of 2025!

Jianqi (Janice) Hou
Psychology Specialist

My time here has been truly transformative, and I’m so grateful for the amazing professors, mentors, and peers I’ve met along the way. A special shoutout to Mateja for opening doors to opportunities I never dreamed possible. To my brilliant and vibrant friends, thank you for the unforgettable memories. I’ve learned the value of embracing new experiences and resilience, which will stay with me forever. I also want to express that psychology is the best hub science ever, and this field does not receive the appreciation, understanding, or FUNDING it deserves. PSYCHOLOGY RULES!!

Kei Sano
Psychology Specialist, Education & Society Minor

And just like that, my time U of T comes to an end. No more trudging through snow (and slush), or running on U of T time to make it to class. Thank you to every person who made these years what they were. I’ll miss it all more than I can say. Cheers to what comes next.

Meixuan (Anastasia) Liu
Psychology Specialist, Education & Society Minor

To every professor and mentor—thank you for imparting not only knowledge but a reverence for reason, empathy, and the ethical pursuit of truth. You taught me how to think with clarity, feel with compassion, and act with purpose. To my extraordinary peers—your strength, kindness, and cultural wisdom have broadened my view of what it means to flourish. At U of T, I found not just a discipline, but a direction. This journey has quietly reshaped my mind and spirit, and deepened my devotion to positive psychology. With enduring gratitude, I carry this dream forward—hoping to become the kind of guide I was privileged to learn from.

Micah Tumamao
Psychology Specialist, Sociology Minor

Still analyzing everything — but now with a degree :o

Nabiha Zubair
Psychology Minor

Congratulations to everyone graduating this year!! Learning alongside such insightful and dedicated peers has truly been a wonderful experience. Even as a psychology minor, I have gained so much from this program, rooted in the knowledge of great instructors. Wishing everyone great success in their paths ahead :)

Psychology Specialist

Came in wide-eyed, left slightly more nearsighted from overthinking. Learned that anxiety is both my worst enemy and oddly effective project manager. Questioned every thought I’ve ever had—twice—then wrote a thesis about it. Somehow still managed to do well (jury’s out on how). Made peace with the fact that I might never feel "done", but I did grow, a lot, just not always in linear or well-caffeinated ways. To everyone who tolerated my spirals and celebrated my wins—thank you. I leave with more questions than answers, which feels exactly right.

Queenie Pun
Psychology and Pharmacology Double Major

Getting here has definitely not been easy, but I’m grateful to everyone that has shown me support throughout undergrad. Cheers to the future and all the adventures ahead! I’m proud of who I’ve become, and so should you :D

Rachel Pagan Sparrow Johnston-Black
Psychology Major

Most mental health issues can be solved with healthcare, housing, and food security. Invest your time in the root issues.

Rebecca Sy
Neuroscience Major, Psychology and Physiology Minor

Endless love to my family and friends for being my cheerleaders, therapists, and snack providers through it all. From all-nighters to wellness events at Trinity, studying psychology taught me how to care for others and myself (plus how to psychoanalyze my own existential spirals). I’m heading to dental school next—but I’ll always remember the laughs, late-night walks, and the people who made U of T feel like home. Congrats Class of 2025—we survived, we thrived, and we probably need a nap. 🎓💖

Songlin Li
Psychology Major

In this department I learnt a great deal about the mechanism of mind and behaviour. It is precisely in this era of artificial intelligence that our expertise in cognitive functions like learning and reasoning should especially come into play, both in explaining what we are already seeing and in developing what is to come. I wish all of us to exhaust what we know about psychology to make an impact in what is probably one of the most important periods of human civilization.

Tien Yang
Psychology Research Specialist

Thanks to every classmate, mentor, and friend who helped me turn fleeting moments into lasting episodic memories. I’m especially grateful to my thesis advisor, Dr. Katherine Duncan, who guided me through the noise to find a signal - and my path. Here’s to everything we’ve retrieved and all that’s yet to be encoded. I leave with a hippocampus shaped by good memories - and a full heart.

Timur Seroglazov
Psychology and Criminology

Shoutout to everyone who supported me on this long but very rewarding journey. Remember that behind every graduate, there are countless professors, parents and friends who helped to make it happen. All the best and good luck to everybody!

Tushti Hari

This journey wasn’t just about lectures and assignments—it was about learning to feel, reflect, and grow. Let’s take that growth into the world and help others do the same.Congratulations to everyone!

From surviving childhood adversity to presenting at global trauma conferences, this degree wasn’t just about psychology—it was about reclaiming a future I once thought was out of reach. Thank you to the mentors, peers, and chosen family who walked beside me. Research, humour, and resilience lit the path forward.

Yuyao Wang
Psychology Specialist

Psych specialist, but still shocked every time I have an emotion.

Zaki Ul Haq
Psychology Specialist

These four years have been full of ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade the growth for anything. Undergrad has changed me from struggling early on to finding purpose through research on brain health and hormones. I’m thankful for the mentors who believed in me, and for my girlfriend and friends who kept me grounded. U of T Psychology taught me how to think deeply, ask hard questions, and keep going even when things feel uncertain.

Zoe Shiu
Psychology Major

Four seasons came and went, and with them, so did I — a little wiser, a little braver, and forever remember my years in U of T.
