Biography :

Mary Pat McAndrews is a clinical neuropsychologist and cognitive neuroscientist at the Krembil Brain Institute, University Health Network. Her research focuses on memory networks, using functional neuroimaging and EEG/MEG, studies of patients with medial temporal lobe damage, and brain stimulation techniques to understand how these networks are organized and modified by focal damage or therapies. An important focus of this work is the identification of individual difference factors that contribute to vulnerability or resilience to disorders affecting memory that can be leveraged in clinical practice. She co-leads a multi-site program, EpLink- the Epilepsy Research Program of the Ontario Brain Institute: http://eplink.ca/, which aims to develop new therapies to stop seizures and new strategies to improve quality of life in individuals with epilepsy. She is also at the forefront of translational fMRI in Canada, developing fMRI techniques for surgical planning and targeting/evaluating treatment for neurological disorders.
